Roundtable on

The Prospect of Political Meritocracy in the Contemporary World

There are long traditions of political meritocracy in the East and West. What are their main similarities and differences? What can we learn from the success and failures of these traditions? If merit is still central to effective governance today, what are the prospects for reinvigorating meritocratic practices in East Asian and Western politics in the age of social equality and value pluralism? The roundtable will explore these important questions.
