POLI3117 Entrepreneurship in Web3.0
Created in collaboration with industry leaders, this course will guide students through the entrepreneurial landscape of Web3.0, focusing on entrepreneurship through the innovative application of cutting-edge technology. The course begins with an accessible, non-technical introduction to local and global use cases where key Web3.0 technologies—AI, Blockchain, and Virtual Reality—are being leveraged to create valuable services and products with social benefits. Students will meet industry veterans representing global corporations that use Web3.0 technology to reinvent business practices, such as Arup, Digital Domain, and the MTRC, as well as startups revolutionizing the way people publish content and co-create services digitally, such as LikerLand and ORA.
In a fully-sponsored study trip to Seoul and Taipei in the reading week, students will meet innovators, academics, and policymakers to learn how innovators in neighboring societies navigate regulatory requirements and community values to realize initiatives that are commercially viable, sustainable, and socially impactful. Students will discuss propositions for tech-powered innovation with students and faculty at Seoul National University and National Taiwan University.
For the final project, students will work with industry experts as mentors to prepare a proposal on a specific topic of Web3.0 entrepreneurship. They will present the proposals to a panel of impact investors.

We also welcome students from an engineering background to join, as the topics this course offers are crucial to the entrepreneurial application of technical know-how.
