Vision and Mission
Standing at the crossroads between East and West, the HKU Department of Politics and Public Administration (PPA) is dedicated to developing truly global perspectives on issues facing citizens, governments and international community.
As part of HKU—Asia’s leading university- and situated in Hong Kong, where Eastern and Western cultures and histories converge, PPA is uniquely positioned to draw on diverse ideas and experiences from across the globe. This unique advantage enables us to integrate Asian and Western perspectives, shaping the way we engage with academics, practitioners, and the broader community and informing our areas of expertise.
PPA is a leading department in comparative politics, international relations, political theory, and public administration. Through excellence in teaching, research, and knowledge exchange, we contribute meaningfully to local, regional, and international communities.
The term Developing Global Perspectives aligns with HKU’s vision of being ‘A Global University: A Home for Global Citizens.’ Our faculty members are internationally oriented, and we are committed to further internationalising our student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
