Galloping into the Year of the Horse: PPA Chinese New Year Lunch

As part of PPA’s proud tradition, faculty members, research students and administrative staff came together today to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

Professor Robert Thomson, Head of the Department of Politics and Public Administration (PPA), expressed our solidarity with all those affected by the war in the Middle East, especially with PPA’s new partner institution, the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi. He also highlighted the steady progress in internationalizing our programs and in recruitment to support the continued expansion of PPA.

Looking ahead and building on last year’s successful inaugural Asia-Pacific Politics and Public Administration Conference (APPPA), PPA will host the second edition this May.

On this occasion, Professor Thomson reviewed the remarkable achievements of Professor Danny Lam – fittingly, in this, his zodiac year.

Professor Lam has led the foundation and expansion of the Master of Public Administration program, extending his scope far beyond Hong Kong. He’s the founding director of the doctoral program in Public Administration, which has offered a new professional pathway at doctoral level for public administration professionals and has strengthened our links with practitioners in recent years. He’s been at the heart of the development of the Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) since 2004. First as a fellow and then as a director, he has grown CCSG into being a major player in the sustainability landscape in Hong Kong and far beyond regionally.
