PPA Supports HKU Faculty of Social Sciences’ Global South Fellowship Scheme

In May 2025, the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences launched the Global South Fellowship Scheme, aimed at attracting talented scholars from across the Global South to enrich The University’s academic community.

To support this initiative, Dr. Anmol Mukhia from South Asian University, India, was nominated by Professor Enze Han and hosted by the Department of Politics and Public Administration (PPA) as a Visiting Assistant Professor from late 2025 to early 2026. During his visit, he worked together with Dr. Enze Han for a collaborative project on comparative borderland state building between India and China toward Myanmar.

Professor Robert Thomson, Head of the Department of Politics and Public Administration, remarked: “We welcome academics from the Global South to visit PPA and engage in collaborative research projects with our colleagues. The world is undergoing rapid change, and we need to draw on perspectives, ideas, and experiences from around the world – Asian, Western, and beyond – to study and address emerging challenges collaboratively.”

Also nominated by Professor Enze Han, Dr. Christopher Paik of New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE will visit PPA starting in early March 2026.
