Abstract:

This talk examines the evolution and future trajectory of public administration (PA) in China within a global context. The talk outlines four stages in the development of Chinese PA: the introduction of Western knowledge, the exploration of China’s administrative realities, the rise of methodological rigor, and the current phase of internationalization and indigenous knowledge construction. Looking ahead, the talk argues that Chinese PA is moving from “describing China” to “explaining China”, and ultimately toward contributing original theoretical insights, particularly in the age of artificial intelligence and data-driven governance.
