The Inaugural Asia-Pacific Politics and Public Administration Conference (APPPA) and the 8th Empirical Political Science in Hong Kong Workshop (EPSHK)

The Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong is proud to host the inaugural Asia-Pacific Politics and Public Administration (APPPA) Conference from May 16 to 17, 2025. This landmark event aims to unite scholars engaged in cutting-edge empirical research across all subfields of political science and public administration, fostering dialogue among researchers from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

In collaboration with the Empirical Political Science in Hong Kong (EPSHK) Workshop—an initiative that has facilitated scholarly exchange on diverse political science topics since 2016—APPPA aspires to broaden its reach and impact by offering a larger platform for showcasing high-quality work in progress.

This year, we received over 300 submissions of innovative research from scholars worldwide. After careful deliberation, 63 papers have been selected for short paper presentations and poster exhibitions. Accepted papers may be given priority consideration for publication in the Asia Pacific Journal of Public Administration (APJPA) .
