Saera Lee is a Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Politics and Public Administration. Before joining the University of Hong Kong, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Northwestern University. Her research and teaching focus on international conflict and cooperation, international organizations, and the political economy of security, with a regional emphasis on East Asia. Her work investigates the mechanisms that enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation.

Saera’s research has appeared in International Interactions, and her ongoing projects examine the evolution of nuclear non-proliferation treaties, the influence of cultural norms on alliance durability, and the application of large language models to treaty text analysis. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa, where she specialized in International Relations and Political Methodology.
